Back Acne (Bacne)

One of the most irritating and hard to reach regions for acne to hit!

Having acne on your face is one thing, but when it starts to appear on your back, it's a whole different ball game! Back acne or bacne as its "amusingly" referred to can be a huge annoyance. Ok, it's obviously not as visible as facial acne but it can be much harder to get rid of and can be a real atmosphere killer in more "intimate" surroundings.

The back is made of much tougher skin than the face and along with this it has thousands of sebaceous glands which just love producing oil. This is the reason that back acne can sometimes seem much more fierce than its facial counterpart. It can contain cysts and nodules which can be painful - beware of carrying around back packs when suffering with back acne!

In fact back acne breakouts can come from wearing tight fitting clothing, this can cause the skin to perspire and of course trap the perspiration against the skin. This creates a kind of film around the body from which nasty spots can spring. So always wear loose fitting clothing and be aware that if you are using a Benzoyl Peroxide treatment that this will bleach clothing! Always wear white!

As for treatments, any type of body acne is always more resistant than its facial counterpart, the best thing you can do is wash every day with a salicylic cleanser and take a shower after a workout. On top of this you can use a topical retinoid cream or the usual oral antibiotics. For a stronger regime you may wish to look here

All in all back acne is neither pleasant to look at or to feel when your loved one is running his/her fingers over your back. It's just another form of the cursed ailment that is acne. But it can be beaten!
